Wold War II Program at the Tillamook County Pioneer Musuem

lisha Hamel from the Historical Outreach Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit, will be at the Museum on Sunday, February 14th at 1pm to do a presentation about “Oregon's Role During WWII.”
This talk will include Tillamook's special role with the mission of searching for Japanese submarines along the Oregon coastline. Ms. Hamel will speak generally about the causes of WWII and the reason the United States became involved and will then transition into where Oregon troops were sent to fight and what happened in Oregon during the war.
The free presentation will include a touchable display of actual WWII items and interaction with the audience. The display includes items such as a WWII helmet, various jackets and coats, part of a captured German teletype machine, a German gas mask, and medals that were awarded to the Soldier that the St. Helens' Armory was named after along with many other items.
The Pioneer Museum has expanded its hours to include Sunday, and Sundays in February will have free admission. For more information, please visit the Museum website at www.tcpm.org or call 503-842-4553.
